JUNE 28, 2008 is Parade Time! The Jim Bowie Days Parade heralds the beginning of the annual celebration on Friday, June 27th at 5:00 PM The theme for this year's parade is "Hat's Off to Montague County" Montague County 150th Sesquicentenial Click Here for parade Application The Jim Bowie Days Association would greatly appreciate your participation. If you have never entered a float, DO IT! You will be amazed at how much fun it can be. Start making plans now for your parade float or entry. Line up for the parade will be at the Junior High parking lot on the corner of Mill and Elba streets. Please have your entry there by 3:45 PM (Only the float needs to be there that early - not the people). ALL ENTRIES MUST BE IN THE LINE-UP BY 4:00 PM to be pre-judged for consideration of prizes. A few rules must apply for everyone: Off-road motorcycles and 3 or 4 wheelers are not permitted. Please do not throw anything from the float or other entry. This is for safety reasons. Clowns or representatives from your organization are welcome to walk along beside the entry and hand out candy or other items. Only floats will be judged for prize consideration Have FUN! Floats will be judged on: 1. Appropriateness to theme 2. Originality 3. Beauty and attractiveness A FLOAT IS A DECORATED, NON-MOTORIZED VEHICLE, BEING PULLED OR PUSHED BY A MOTOROZIED VEHICLE. Winners will be announced at the judges stand following the parade. Winning floats are encouraged to participate in the "Parade of Floats" in the Rodeo Arena on Thursday night, beginning promptly at 7:00 PM preceding the Grand Entry. Line-up of the floats will be on the highway side for entry into the arena. Special Note: The Jim Bowie Days Association assumes no responsibility for injury, nor any liability on a float or other parade entries. Deadline: The deadline for entering the parade is Tuesday, June 24th, 2008. Youth Organization or Sports Team Entry (The winning Float will receive a cash prize& a plaque. Civic Groups and Churches Entry (The winning Float will receive a cash prize& a plaque. There will be a winner in each category. * Youth and Civic Groups must be tax exempt and nationally recognized or locally sanctioned orgainzations. Only Floats will be eligible for prize consideration Judging will be based on the following: 1. Appropriateness to theme 2. Originality 3. Beauty and attractiveness |
